As much as I enjoyed reading The Book of Lost Things, I also find this story has touches my heart in many ways. It has a mix of fairy tales in it, but told in a more adult, with a twisted touch, from a different angle, not the common and definitely not the classis way. Title: The Book of Lost Things Author: John Connolly Series: Stand Alone Genre: Fantasy CoffeeNCrackers' Meter: 5 Cups of Coffee. When I was thinking about the book section of this blog, I immediately knew I wanted to contact one of my very favorite bloggers, Darla from Bakingdom, about a guest post. This weekend I had an unexpected treat-the time to sit down and finish a whole book in under 24 hours. The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. Summary: High in his attic bedroom, twelve-year-old David mourns the death of his mother, with only the books on his shelf for company. Thomas noticed the spider silently treading across the carpeted floor of his bedroom. Although he's best known for a series of mysteries starring Detective Charlie Parker, John Connolly's 2006 stand-alone book The Book of Lost Things is a not-to-be-missed dark fantasy in the vein of Neil Gaiman. 12 year old David mourns over his mother's death. He had no brothers and no sisters, and while he loved his father, it would be true to say that he loved his mother more. He could not bear to think of a life without her.
